About Havens Design

Havens Design was founded 7 years ago by Adam Havens – that’s me over on the right. I’m the son of a standup comedian and brother to an entertaining business speaker; however, I rebelled against the family business and decided to stay backstage designing websites and marketing materials for public speakers, entertainers and other small businesses. And yes, the most common question I get is “Why aren’t you funny?” I usually brush it off and then pull out my best knock knock joke.

I reside in sunny, windy, cloudy, snowy, and normally pleasant Bloomington, Illinois, which is famous for State Farm Insurance and Beer Nuts. I moved here after I was six months old and the force field has not allowed me to venture too far away. Luckily they were doing maintenance on the force field for a few hours and I snuck away to Southern Illinois University at Carbondale where I earned my Bachelors Degree in Public Relations and Journalism.

I began my career with a start-up marketing company where I worked for 4 years until I decided to go down a new path. My father, Rex Havens, is a stand-up comedian and public speaker, and my brother Jeff Havens is an entertainer turned business keynote speaker. I began helping my father with his websites, video editing and print design when I realized that I really enjoyed working in this industry. We’ve since formed Big Pow Enterprises, which specializes in corporate training products and offerings with an entertaining approach.

You’ll see that the majority of my clients fall in the speaking and entertainment categories, but referrals and conversations have lead me into other industries to help with various projects.

On a personal level, I enjoy pretty much anything that involves competition, whether it be golf, basketball or full-contact dominoes. My wife Katie and I bought our first house after we were married 6 years ago, and we share it with our black lab, Ray. We enjoy boating, movies, and long walks. I’m not sure what Katie enjoys.

And with that, if you’ve made it to the end of this section, I’m impressed you wanted to know that much about me. Call me anytime to discuss your needs, tell me how your weekend was, or just to say hi!
